Looking into the years, a million years from now presents a bleak picture for Earth. The Sun will slowly expand into a red colossus, initially engulfing Mercury and Venus. Our World itself may escape this immediate doom, but the increased solar flux will render the terrain uninhabitable, heating away water and sparking a runaway greenhouse effect.
